A design consultation covers the questions that matter: solid or engineered, plank width, board direction, herringbone or straight lay, stain or natural, sheen level, finish type, and how the floor will meet stairs, tile and existing rooms. We bring samples and we bring opinions, because after twenty years of installing floors we know which combinations hold up.
We also talk about the things that are not on a sample board. How a wide plank behaves in a room over a crawl space. Why a matte finish hides wear better than gloss. What a hardwax oil is like to maintain compared to polyurethane. Which colors will look dated in ten years.
The result is a written spec you can hand to a builder or use for our own installation: species, grade, width, layout, color and finish, with photos of the samples in your rooms.
